In a region as dynamic and diverse as Windsor and Essex County, it is important that the public school system actively acknowledges both the freedom of religion that is protected by the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and the protection from dicrimination and harassment based on religion that is part of the Ontario Human Rights Code.  As such the GECDSB is pleased to present "Guidelines for the Accommodation of Religious Requirements, Practices and Observances".  This 77 page resource document provided guidelines and procedures for religious accommodation in GECDSB schools and properties.

GUIDE TO FUNERAL PRACTICES AND BEREAVEMENT RITUALS 2017

The GECDSB respects and celebrates the various faiths, cultures and backgrounds of our school communities.  This document attempts to answer some of the questions Board employees might have about attending a funeral with unfamiliar religious traditions, and/or grief customs.  It provides a brief explanation of the funeral and grief customs of some of Windsor's most frequently practised religions and belief systems.
