The Greater Essex County District School Board is preparing staff volunteers for a role in responding to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action in education.

One staff member at each school and a number of Board departments will receive professional development to prepare them to act as liaisons in their home schools, mobilizing the knowledge they gain through ongoing professional learning during the school year.

The first sessions will be held on Monday, December 11th and Tuesday, December 12th at the Caboto Club in Windsor from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Chief Dan Miskokomon of Bkejwanong First Nation will deliver the keynote address on how staff can be allies in reconciliation through education. The day will consist of listening and learning from Indigenous parents/guardians and students on how the GECDSB staff can build authentic and reciprocal relationships with the First Nations, Metis and Inuit students and families within our school communities.
