Sweater Day

- adding a layer decreases energy use -

Schools throughout the Greater Essex County District School Board are doing their part to conserve energy and combat climate change by throwing on a sweater this month.

Sweater Day is traditionally held on the first Thursday in February and it involves building occupants wearing a sweater to work or school and turning down the thermostat at least 2 degrees.

Some GECDSB schools are observing sweater month, or doing it for a full 2 week period, or having their event on February 14th, to show some love for the planet! National Sweater Day is, according to the World Wildlife Federation, "designed to help raise awareness about renewable energy and change behaviours around energy consumption in Canada."
