PowWow 2019
- honouring our FNMI students -
Among First Nations people all over Turtle Island, the gift of a blanket demonstrates respect, honour and admiration for an individual.
During the annual PowWow on Thursday, June 6th at the St. Clair College Sportsplex, one of the special ceremonies will be the presentation of blankets to each of the graduating First Nations, Métis, and Inuit students from the Greater Essex County District School Board, the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and Conseil Scolaire Catholique Providence.
The PowWow begins at 11:00 a.m. with the Grand Entry and continues with traditional dancing, drumming, songs and exhibitions until the Grand Exit at 4:55 p.m.
June is also National Indigenous History Month in Canada which celebrates the heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.
