Eradicating Racism

- "The Wiz" promotes principles of fairness and mutual respect -

On Thursday, March 21st, the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, students from across the Greater Essex County District School Board will broaden their perspective on racism and improve their ability to recognize it at home, at school and in the community.

Students from 3 elementary and 3 secondary schools will attend a performance of "The Wiz" at the Capitol Theatre, staged by the not-for-profit company, Arts Collective Theatre from 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

"The Wiz", based on the Frank Baum novel, "The Wizard of Oz" features an all-black cast combining science fiction, fantasy, magic, realism and ancient African traditions.

The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is recognized by the United Nations to ensure that the principles of fairness and mutual respect form part of our daily lives, not just on March 21st but throughout the year.
