Learning from Columbine
- book study for GECDSB and community partners -
Nearly 20 community partners joined the Greater Essex County District School Board in 2014 to affirm its Violent Threat Risk Assessment protocol. Since that time co-operation among local and regional agencies has flourished through training and communication.
On Tuesday, March 3rd approximately 100 individuals, who have received level one or level two training will get together to discuss Dave Cullen’s book, “Columbine” at the Fogolar Furlan Club in Windsor. The participants will include teachers, administrators, psychologists and social workers from the Board along with police and parole officers, social workers and representatives of community agencies: New Beginnings, Windsor Police Service, LaSalle Police Service, Essex OPP, Hotel Dieu-Grace Hospital – Regional Children’s Centre and Hiatus House.
They all received the book several months ago to prepare them for a lively and in-depth conversation about its content, conclusions and how it might relate to our community protocol.
