- unique opportunity to show off skills -
Technology students from the Greater Essex County School Board raised the bar at the recent Ontario Skills Qualifying Competition at Fanshawe College. Fifteen students earned the right to compete in this year’s Ontario Trade Skills Competition Provincial Championships, May 4-6 in Waterloo.
This is the largest skilled trades’ competition in Canada and features more than 65 contests and 1900 competitors. The event is expected to draw 20,000 spectators.
The O.T.S.C. is a unique opportunity for students to turn the heads of educators, family, friends and prospective employers. Winners of the competition will get the chance to move on to the world championships.
Other activities over the two day event will feature a career showcase of businesses, colleges, and apprenticeship programs. There will also be a Young Women’s Conference - a chance for female students to explore careers in skilled trades and speak with career mentors.
