Stories of the Joshua Tree
- WCCA tribute to the music of U2 -
The songs of the band, U2 form the foundation of an original jukebox musical presentation, “Stories of the Joshua Tree” starring the student singers, dancers, actors and musicians of the Walkerville Centre for the Creative Arts.
Performances will be February 27, 28, March 5, 6, & 7 at 7:30 p.m. and March 1st at 2:00 p.m. at the Walkerville Collegiate Institute auditorium. (Tickets can be purchased by calling the school at 519-252-6514 or at the door)
The Greater Essex County District School Board’s 7 key elements of character: Self-discipline, Respect, Diligence, Trust, Responsibility, Caring and Fairness are conveyed through U2’s words and music.
The students have been working since November on more than 20 of the band’s songs. Performer Josh Evans says that their show “takes some of the common themes in so many of their songs; love, peace, faith, hope and helping others and uses them to speak to students about being great people.”
Following the success of Broadway revivals of Phantom of the Opera and Beauty and the Beast, WCCA has never attempted this style of original musical. For more information contact Director John Nabben @ 519-252-6514.
