2016 EQAO Results
- testing of Grade 3,6,9 & 10 students -

Literacy scores remain stable, declines were experienced in Primary and Junior Math and Grade 9 math scores have improved for GECDSB students in the latest round of EQAO (Education Quality and Accountability Office) testing.

In literacy, GECDSB students maintained a standard of achievement: 67% and 69% of Grade 3 students met the provincial standard in reading and writing, respectively; 76% of Grade 6 students met the provincial standard in reading and writing; 80% of Grade 10 students writing the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) were successful writing the test for the first time.

EQAO results demonstrate that mathematics continues to be an opportunity for growth at the elementary level. 58% of Grade 3 students and 48% of Grade 6 students met the provincial standard in math. The EQAO scores for GECDSB students taking applied level math increased by 5%, with 59% meeting the standard. This is 14% above the provincial results. In addition, the cohort data shows that a significant improvement was made by students between Grade 6 and Grade 9. 43% of students in the cohort, taking Grade 9 applied level math did not meet the provincial standard in Grade 6 but met the standard in Grade 9. EQAO scores for students taking academic level math increased by 3% to 87%.
