Prepared to Welcome Refugees
- GECDSB always ready to respond -

With the arrival in Canada of the first group of Syrian refugees, the Greater Essex County District School Board is prepared to welcome the families that will settle in Windsor and Essex County.

“We already have great processes in place to welcome and support new Canadians,” states Superintendent of Education Sharon Pyke. “However, with the possibility of a large group arriving in a short period, we have prepared some contingencies.”

Thursday, December 17th at 10:30 a.m. the GECDSB will be joined by its community partners from the New Canadian Centre for Excellence, the Newcomer Reception Centre and the Employment Assessment Centre to discuss its plan and the support programs that are already in place for refugee children and families.

This media opportunity will be held at the Newcomer Reception Centre, 443 Ouellette Ave. in Windsor.
