10th Social Justice Forum
- Together We Can Make a Difference -
160 Grade 8 students from schools throughout Windsor and Essex County will take on some pressing global issues and generate social change at the 10th Social Justice Forum on Thursday, February 20th.
The Forum is sponsored by the Holocaust Education Committee of the Windsor Jewish Federation, UNIFOR Local 200 and the University of Windsor, in cooperation with the GECDSB and the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board. It runs from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Odette Building on the university campus.
The students, from 80 elementary schools, will attend workshops on Homelessness and Poverty, the Environment, Lessons Learned from the Holocaust, Removing the Stigma of Mental Illness and Experiential Learning through the Arts.
They are expected to take knowledge they have gained back to their home schools to initiate projects that foster social justice in their community.
For more information contact GECDSB Diversity Officer Rachel Olivero @ 519-255-3200 ext. 10213.
