- Canadian authors speak at high school -
On Thursday January 23 authors John B. Lee, Marty Gervais and Vanessa Shields will be speaking to  students at Vincent Massey Secondary School hoping to instil in them the importance of creative writing.
John B. Lee is an award winning poet and writer and has 37 published books and 10 published chapbooks. He has receivedmore than 60 prestigious international awards for poetry. In 2013 he has won the Winston Collins/ Descant Prize for Best Canadian Poem with his poem Bringing The Farmhouse Down.
Marty Gervais is a journalist, photographer, poet, playwright, historian, editor and publisher of Black Moss Press. He has published many plays, children's books, non-fiction and, a book of photography, A Show of Hands: Boxing on the Border (2004). In 2013 he was named Windsor’s first poet laureate and in 2013 was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal in February 2013.
Vanessa Shields is a writer, novelist and a poet. Her first book, Laughing Through A Second Pregnancy – A Memoir, was published in April 2011 by Black Moss Press and her first book of poetry, I Am That Woman was published in November 2013 by Black Moss Press.  The official book launch for I Am That Woman is on January 23rd.
