Roads to Freedom
- launch of revised elementary resource -

In harmony with Black History Month in Canada, the Greater Essex County District School Board is launching its revised Roads to Freedom African-Canadian History resource for elementary students.

An event to celebrate the release of this updated document will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd at West Gate Public School (1275 Campbell Ave., Windsor) from 10:45 – 11:45 a.m.

Throughout January groups of students in junior and intermediate classes have been working with artists and performers from the community on presentations for this assembly. These mentors have woven African-Canadian history into their work with the students.

Roads to Freedom provides teachers with an authentic, locally developed resource to supplement the Ontario curriculum and inform all students about the significant contributions that African-Canadians have made to the Windsor-Essex County region as well as across Canada.
