3 More Weeks of School
- summer learning program begins -

More than 300 students will begin their summer vacations back at school, taking part in the GECDSB’s Summer Learning Program. Introduced to a few dozen students in 4 classrooms several years ago, the S.L.P. is intended to reduce summer learning loss in literacy and numeracy. Classes, which will run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., begin on Wednesday, July 2nd and run through July 18th.

This year the Summer Learning Program is being offered at 13 different sites, including 3 in Leamington. Also for the first time there will be 2 French Immersion classrooms and one for First Nations’ students. Forty-two self-identified, FNMI students have registered for the program at John Campbell Public School, which will include a cultural component and be delivered, in part, in the Ojibway and Oneida language.

At all sites the school days will be split between instruction and recreational activities.
