Talbot Trail Provides Smiles and Opportunities
- New Backpacks for Syrian Refugees-
Talbot Trail students and staff will be meeting Syrian Refugees at the Days Inn Hotel: Sunrise Tuesday, March 29 at 5:30 pm to provide them with new backpacks.
The school recently applied to a KidStart grant from the Windsor-Essex Community Foundation and through their generosity, was given $500 to purchase backpacks and they were able to put together 63 for the newcomers.
They held a gently used book, toy and stuffed animal drive within our kindergarten families and accepted donations of construction paper and activity books.  The result was astounding!  With the generous donations of the school community, the kindergarten students packed each backpack with 4 toys/games, 4-5 books, 4 stuffed animals as well as construction paper and an activity book.
The Syrian students will be participating in activities throughout the day and then greeted by the Talbot Trail Blazers with smiles on their faces and backpacks in their hands.
