Football for a Cure
- Essex player a testament to the cause  -

High school football teams in Windsor and Essex County raised more than $29 thousand last year that was used to support patients at the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre.

The 4th annual Football for a Cure campaign kicks off this week and Thursday’s junior game between the Essex Red Raiders and Tecumseh Vista Vortex on the turf in Tecumseh will have extra meaning to Red Raiders lineman Devon Bechard.

Devon is a cancer survivor. Diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at age 6, he is now in remission, healthy and able to make a contribution to his team.

The Red Raiders play the Vortex at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Players, officials and supporters will be dressed in pink to demonstrate their support for the campaign.
