Six Windsor elementary schools have helped stock pantries at 30 school breakfast program across the GECDSB and at a number of community agencies through the annual Cereal Box Challenge. Students and staff at Glenwood, Southwood, MacWilliam, Talbot Trail, Central and Bellewood public schools collected more than 3 million grams of cereal during the 2 week campaign in November.
The schools and individual classrooms were challenged to collect the breakfast staple for the right to be Cereal Box Champion for the year.
Talbot Trail Public School won the overall competition with an average of 1,044 grams per student. The winning classroom was 2/3HR at Southwood Public School. The 20 students donated nearly 90 thousand grams, an average of 4,450 per student.
