Active school transportation is one of the simplest forms of exercise for young people. Walking, cycling, skateboarding or scootering are easy and invigorating ways to travel to and from school each day.
The GECDSB has always encouraged students to embrace this alternative to motorized transportation but now there's additional support on its way.
In partnership with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit and Green Communities Canada, 3 GECDSB schools: King Edward PS, M.D. Bennie PS and Talbot Trail PS are being included in a new project to promote active transportation.
A variety of resources will be available including toolkits and infrastructure improvements for bikes and scooters.
Because students are working on-line due to the stay at home order, some e-learning options are available, including suggestions for general outdoor activity. Click here for link to resources
As well, the Spring into Spring Twitter contest is open for all students. Click here for the OAST Twitter feed to learn more
