The Greater Essex County District School Board's Summer Learning program, Camp Wonder, is extending the school year by 3 weeks for more than 700 young students.
There are 31 classrooms busy with math and literacy activities in 23 schools throughout the Board. The program is targeted at Grade 1 and 2 students to support learning during the summer months, build students' confidence and develop relationships with parents / guardians as partners in education. It runs Monday to Friday until July 17th (with the exception of the July 1st Canada day holiday.
Each day begins with breakfast, followed by blocks of "high leverage learning activities" with the 2 certified teachers.
Afternoons are occupied with fitness, recreational activities and field trips.
