The Greater Essex County District School Board has agreed to participate in surveys which are part of the 2014 Ontario Child Health Study.
Between October 2014 and May 2015, Statistics Canada is inviting 7,000 families with children ages 4-17 to complete an interview in their home. Concurrently, researchers from McMaster University will be conducting School Mental Health Surveys in 240 schools across the province to investigate new ways of promoting and addressing student mental health needs.
The results of the survey will be used to develop opportunities to improve the mental health of young people in Ontario. The previous study, done in 1983, resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars of investment in national and provincial programs and services.
