Lakeshore Discovery Student Wins Essay Competition

LDS Essay Winner 4.JPGElisha Giang (pictured, right - centre), who was in Grade 8 last year at Lakeshore Discovery School, is an award winning writer. Her essay on what the promise of Confederation might look like in the year 2042 and what impact gender equity could have on girls in 25 years earned the top prize in the EVE Society's annual competition.

The EVE Society supports the advancement of women's voices in public policy and they chose this topic because this is not only the 150th anniversary of Confederation but it's been 100 years since women received the right to vote in Ontario(April, 1917).

Ms. Giang was presented with the Our Lady Agnes Glass Slipper Award at a ceremony held at Essex MPP Taras Natyshak's office.

Emily Jiang of LDS and Remy Allison from A.V. Graham PS were also among the top entrants from across the province.
