Massey chess team picture.JPGHenry Zhang, a Grade 9 student at Vincent Massey SS, finished first in the Championship Division to lead the Mustangs to the overall team title at the 2018 Ontario High School Chess Championship, held in Toronto May 12th and 13th.

Massey had 16 players in the tournament's 3 divsions (Championship, Internediate and Beginner). In all there were 165 players from 42 different high schools competing.

It's the first overall title in the provincial chess championship for a Windsor school since the W.D. Lowe Trojans took the title in 1997. Meng Lou from Lowe won the individual championship division 4 straight years, from 1994-97.

Massey has a very active chess club, hosting tournaments throughout the year at their school and area elementary schools.
