Sometimes hope comes in a plastic bag, with a few pages, pencils and a sharpener inside. Those are basic necessities for any student and real estate broker Rick Rose has generously given hope to hundreds of young people this September.
Mr. Rose and his office staff collected and put together more than 250 back to school packages and delivered them to the GECDSB offices for distribution to schools and ultimately, students who need them. He was inspired to make this contribution by stories of teachers who selflessly purchase and provide supplies for their students.
His donation is also helping students who don't even have a teacher yet. Recent immigrants to Canada and newcomers to our community will receive the supplies they will eventually take with them when they go to school after visiting the GECDSB's Newcomer Welcome Centre. Everything in the bags and boxes that Mr. Rose delivered will be put to good use, giving students a positive start to their school year and hope for a great future.
