EcoSchools Certification

GECDSB EcoSchools logo.jpgThirty-three Greater Essex County District School Board schools received certification as Ontario EcoSchools in 2019. That includes 6 which earned Platinum status, the highest level awarded by the provincial governing body.

EcoSchools certification requires a year-long commitment by a school EcoTeam and includes regular reviews of energy consumption and waste minimization, action plans and campaigns, followed by reflection and assessment.

Leamington District Secondary School was awarded its 4th consecutive Platinum Certification. Princess Elizabeth PS, W.F Herman Academy (Secondary), Dr. David Suzuki PS, Glenwood PS and Kennedy Collegiate Institute were the other GECDSB schools attaining the ultimate, Platinum level this year.

Suzuki, Vincent Massey SS and Sandwich West PS were all certified for the 11th consecutive year in 2019.
