The Greater Essex County District School Board has signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop international educational opportunities with Yuhan Technical High School in Guro, Seoul, Republic of Korea.
Director of Education Erin Kelly and YTHS Principal Mr. Seok Ho Kim formalized the 5 year agreement during a brief ceremony at the GECDSB administrative offices. The 2 signatories will now work on programs for students in both countries and exchanges of ideas in the areas of culture, arts and sports.
Students at YTHS are able to take advantage of a Korean government program for international study. "We are thrilled that our students will be able to learn from the Korean students' perspectives and vice versa," says GECDSB Superintendent of Education for Student Success Vicki Houston (pictured, right). "We believe there is enormous potential within this partnership to explore the Specialist High Skills Major as a pathway for Yuhan students studying in Ontario."
This partnership provides clear alignment with the international education strategy of the Ontario Ministry of Education, allowing for expanding students' global awareness, knowledge and perspectives.
