GECDSB Scholarships

​​​​​​​Cole Enlow - Bill Lamb Memorial Scholarship winner.jpgNine graduating GECDSB high school students have received $10,000 renewable scholarships to pursue their post-secondary educations. 

The Robert Little and Debra Deane Little Scholarship is a new, annual award for students who demonstrate a combination of academic ability, financial need and balanced personal development. It was among the scholarships presented during the Board of Trustees' Education Committee Meeting on June 4th.

  •  ​​​Qaliyah Wyatt - Essex District High School: will study Criminology at the University of Windsor
  • Bayan Jaber - W.F. Herman Academy: intends to be a physiotherapist after completing the Human Kinetics program at the University of Windsor
  •  Elizabeth Bondy - Kennedy Collegiate Institute: will study Biology in university
  • Zahraa Chami - Kennedy Collegiate Institute: is planning to continue her education in Biochemistry at the University of Windsor
  • Zeynab Abdalla - Kennedy Collegiate Institute: will study Human Kinetics at the University of Windsor
  • Keira Toth - Tecumseh Vista Academy: is going to Guelph University in the ARts and Science program
  • Shehryar Suleman - Vincent Massey Secondary School: will pursue a double degree in Business and Computer Science at Wilfred Laurier University 
  • Karl Zhu - Vincent Massey Secondary School (pictured, left, below): is going to the University of Waterloo for Computer Science and Business
  • Kalie Chapman-Smith - Walkerville Collegiate Institute: is interested in a career in education after her studies in Drama, English Literature and Creative Writing
International scholarship winner with Erin Kelly.jpgA new scholarship has also been introduced for international students, sponsored by StudyInsured​, the medical insurance provider for GECDSB international students. Three recipients were awarded $500 bursaries to assist with their post-secondary education:
  •       ​​Shaorui-Sean Huo - Sandwich Secondary School 
  •       Lizhuo You - Vincent Massey Secondary School
  •       Xinyu Li - Riverside Secondary School

 
 The $1,000 William Barrott Scholarship IODE scholarship was presented to:
  • Mohamed Al Masri - Walkerville Collegiate Institute

​Six students received $750 from the W.L. Clark Scholarship and Bursary Fund, which was established in memory of Willis Lumgair Clark, a former editor of the Windsor Record newspaper that became the Windsor Star:

  • ​Reem Al-Dika - Vincent Massey Secondary School
  • Lyric Davis - W.F. Herman Academy
  • Hannah Pare - Kennedy Collegiate Institute
  • Maria Meer - Walkerville Collegiate Institute
  • Safa Shakir - Westview Freedom Academy
  • Adison Brown - Riverside Secondary School
The Bill Lamb Memorial Bursary is named for the former teacher who is remembered for his work supporting the needs of students with developmental challenges. It was presented to:
  • Cole Enlow - Essex District High School​ (pictured, right, above)
And the Junior Achievement Scholarship and Bursary of $525.00 each were presented to:
  • Mackenzie Clench - Belle River District High School
  • Konnor Beaudoin - Western Secondary School
