Iman Berry (left), a Grade 12
student at Vincent Massey Secondary School, is looking to make a difference
and encourage student voice.
She has a keen interest in politics and has attended
various political programs across Canada. Currently, she is working with young
people to build Canada’s first Youth Policy. This past summer, Iman served
as a Canadian Ambassador on a trade mission to China. Locally, she is the
founder of a program that works to connect students with refugees.
Layla Bakaa (right) is in Grade 12 at Leamington District Secondary School. Since Grade 9, she has been a model of leadership within her school and the greater-Leamington community.
Layla believes that the power of student voice should never be underestimated. In her roles as a member of the Minister's Student Advisory Council, student researcher for the Ministry of Education, Deputy Prime Minister at LDSS and a member of Parent Council, she continuously strives to utilize her platforms to advocate on behalf of students.
The Student Trustees chair the GECDSB's Student Senate and participate in public meeting the the Board of Trustees.
