High Performance Partnership

Jim MacDougall speaks at podium during annoncement.jpgKennedy Collegiate Institute will soon be home to an athletic training centre unique among high schools in Ontario. Through a dynamic new partnership with Elite Training Systems, KCI students will have access to programs and equipment usually reserved for professional and high performance athletes.

E.T.S. is owned by β€‹Mark Fitzgerald, the strength and conditioning coach for the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL, who already operates a facility in Whitby, which he says, is similar to what they will install at Kennedy. The space, though will be much different. It will be located on the site of the school's swimming pool, which was closed and filled in last year.

KCI Physical Education department head Jim MacDougall (picture, left) says, "It will be the best high-performance centre in any high school in Canada." During the school day students will be able to use the centre as part of their Luke Willson speaks at podium.jpgPhys. Ed classes. Varsity athletes will also utilize the facility for their training and athletic testing. Outside of school hours E.T.S. will service their clients, which head of operations, Austin Kennedy says will be the top teams and athletes in the Windsor area. One of those will be NFL player Luke Willson of LaSalle (picture, right). He says he'll be training there, preparing to display his talents for teams around the league as his contract with the Detroit Lions expires and he becomes a free agent.

The E.T.S. centre is expected to be operational later this winter.
