By choosing to implement this programs, schools will develop students' academic, social and emotional well-being, focusing on international-mindedness and strong personal values. The PYP nurtures independent learning skills, encouraging every student, ages 3 - 12, to take responsibility for their learning. The program incorporates local and global issues into the curriculum, asking students to look at 6 related transdisciplinary themes and to consider the links between them. The themes include "who we are", "where we are in place and time" and "how the world works".
The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally-minded young people who can empathize with others and pursue lives of purpose and meaning. The program empowers students, ages 11-16, to inquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.
