M.D. Bennie Public School in Leamington and Glenwood Public School in Windsor have been approved as International Baccalaureate Candidate Schools.
Program coordinators have been appointed and both schools will now pursue authorization as I.B. World Schools to offer the Primary Years Programme. I.B. World Schools share a common philosophy - a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education - that we believe is important to our students.
Once teacher training has been completed Glenwood and M.D. Bennie will begin participation in a trial implementation leading up to official authorization from the I.B. Organization.
"The PYP transdisciplinary framework focuses on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both at school and beyond. Informed by research into how students learn, how educators teach, and the principles and practice of effective assessment, the programme places a powerful emphasis on inquiry-based learning. Taking on the PYP is a path of discovery for schools. The PYP invigorates learning and teaching, and transforms school community and culture." (from I.B. website)
More information about the PYP Programme can be received by contacting the school.
