More than 100 GECDSB teachers went to school one Saturday in November to learn more about math.
It's been observed that there's a relationship between student success in math and the comfort, confidence and preparation of the person teaching the subject. The Math Symposium, held at Tecumseh Vista Academy, was designed to support and strengthen teachers' math skills and to encourage more leadership in every school community.
There were 17 presentations for teachers to choose from during the full day of learning. They could get tips on bringing math into gym class, find out about Knowledgehook or Homework Help of even learn how to start a Math Fight. All of them got something useful out of the sesions.
