The Greater Essex County District School Board took school to the people in February with its first Education Expo at Devonshire mall.
The interactive showcase included displays and information about Parenting and Family Literacy Centres, Kindergarten, Special Education, French Immersion, FNMI, Robotics, the Arts, the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program, Library Learning Commons, Specialist High Skills Majors and much more.
Visitors were invited to stroll down the education pathway: starting at pre-school, through the elementary years, all the way to earning a high school diploma. The Expo offered insight into public education's landmarks such as JK registration and the transition from elementary school to secondary school.
Angela Ciarlariello-Bondy, the Expo's coordinator, was very pleased with the outcome of the event,"It was great success that showed the Greater Essex County District School Board’s passion for education".
Ciarlariello-Bondy noted that more than 160 volunteers, both staff and students, were a part of the three day event.
With Kindergarten Registration for the 2016-17 school year this month, the Expo provided families with a lot of important, timely information about what's in store for new students over the next 14 years.
