Even at the GECDSB's oldest school everything seemed shiny and new on the first day of the 2015-16 school year. The glass and hardwood gleamed as back-to-school shoes squeaked along the sparkling marble hallways of Prince Edward Public School in Windsor.
Principal Teresa Iandolo gathered the Panthers in the school auditorium to begin the day with some important information as well as a little inspiration. The historic building has hosted 93 similar first-day gatherings. A lot of other things have changed since 1921 but not the excitement, for both staff and students, of the start of a school year.
At 55 other elementary schools in the city and Essex County students in Grades 1-8 were meeting their teachers, finding their classrooms and getting to know one another. Kindergarten classes begin Monday, September 14th. New registrations are still being accepted. For information contact the school office or call the GECDSB 519-255-3200.
Classes are also underway at the Board's 15 secondary schools.
