The Greater Essex County District School Board is currently assisting 23 students learn about business by being entrepreneurs.
As the only school board in Ontario to receive a grant from the provincial Ministry of Economic Development, Employment and Infrastructure we have offered students the chance to start a business and earn money as well as co-op credits toward their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.
It's a wide range of businesses: Osadayi Ohanmu (picture, left) makes and sells customized crochet products including hats, scarves and baby products; Taylor-Jean Drouillard bakes and sells unique cakes and cupcakes; Owen Stichhaller creates customizable small wood productions including furniture, birdhouses, and bookshelves.
