The celebrations of Canada and Ontario 150 will continue even after the year ends at 29 GECDSB schools. They applied for and received grants from the Ministry of Education to help them participate in the anniversary activities through play and physical fitness. The extra money was used to improve or paint new games on the playgrounds.
The funding was intended to increase opportunities for students to particpate in physical activity through enhancements to their outdoor play spaces.
Participating schools were Anderdon PS, Hugh Beaton PS, Belle River PS, Centennial Central PS, Central PS, Colchester North PS, Coronation PS, Dr. David Suzuki PS, Dougall PS, East Mersea PS, Eastwood PS, Essex PS, Ford City PS, Glenwood PS, Gosfield North PS, W.F. Herman Academy (elementary), Hetherington PS, Jack Miner PS, Lakeshore Discovery School, LaSalle PS, John McWilliam PS, Parkview PS, Prince Andrew PS, Princess Elizabeth PS, Roseville PS, Sandwich West PS, Southwood PS, and Tecumseh Vista Academy (elementary).
