Last year Hospice of Windsor and Essex County presented Colchester North Public School with its Jan Dennis Youth Award. Students and staff at the school had conducted a drive to collect everyday necessities for patients.
That, it seems, is the beginning of a very warm friendship.
This year 10 students who have joined the Sewing Club are making quilts for hospice. They're designed to keep users warm while sitting in a wheelchair. They've already made a couple but they would like to do more and they're looking for donations of cotton material.
Teacher Lori Ross and Mrs. Kutz, a grandparent, are supervising the Sewing Club using machines donated by Mr. Lajoie and reconditioned by Mr. Regier from D & R Vacuum.
