In October 2016 the Ontario Ministry of Education awarded a grant of $9,180,832 to build a replacement for Prince Andrew Public School in LaSalle. The project was announced at an event held in Amherstburg where the funding for a new high school was also revealed.
Trustee for LaSalle and Amherstburg, Ron LeClair described it as "a glorius day" for the towns and the GECDSB, "A new school is exciting and can revitalize a community. It

In September, 2018 land was acquried by the Board for the project (see map, posted, below). The next steps are design, Ministry and Board of Trustees approval and the tendering of the project for a general contractor. Once work begins, it usually takes between 12-14 months to build a school of this size.
