Weather conditions caused the loss of 21 days of work at the new Leamington District Secondary School site during the past winter. Regardless, there will still be lots of time to complete the building, furnish it and have everything ready for the start of the 2017-18 school year.
Director of Education Erin Kelly recently toured the site with area Trustee Dave Taves (pictured, below) and she was delighted by the interior design, especially the layout of skilled trades shops and the "impressive" culinary program area.
The Board will take full possession of the building from the general contractor, Rosati Construction, in August. From that time, until the first day of school, crews will be cleaning, setting up classrooms and outfitting them with all the necessities for the 1000 students who will be showing up on September 5th.
The total cost of the project is just under $27 million and it will be complete on budget.
