Black History
Black history in the Windsor and Essex area is rich with significance and provides educators and excellent opportunity to build meaningful curriculum connections around the local events that make up our shared history.

Celebrating Black heritage and history is an important focus for the GECDSB and we want to shine the light in many of the resources in place to support our students and foster a learning environment that is both inclusive and diverse.

To help mobilize knowledge about the importance of Black history locally, these pages have been develop as a support to educators in our system. Included in the links below you will find our "Roads to Freedom" documents to support both elementary and secondary curriculum, as well as many other teaching resources and community links.

Using the "African Studies" link below, we encourage you to take a moment to listen to what our students have to say about how this course makes them feel valued in their classrooms.
