Each child is unique and progresses through each stage of development in their own time and in their own way. Children, while they move through an expected sequence of steps, may not proceed through those steps the same way or at the same time. There are some widely held expectations or benchmarks which children are expected to reach.
Your child is developing in many areas at once. All of these areas are dependent on one another. As their intellect grows, it is influenced by social, physical, creative and emotional growth.
If you have concerns about your child's development you can speak to your child's teacher, family doctor or visit our Community Partners page where you will find many organizations ready to offer help.
