Parenting And Family Learning Centres

The Ministry of Education recognizes that parent involvement matters. Student achievement improves when parents play an active role in their child’s education, and good schools become even better schools when parents are involved. Parent participation is the cornerstone of our Parenting and Family Literacy Centres.

Take a peek into a PFLC on any morning and you will see parents, grandparents, and caregivers actively involved in all aspects of our play-based learning environment alongside their children from birth to age six. Research clearly shows that through music, stories and play, babies and young children can start to build essential skills like sharing, early literacy, and numeracy. Children become familiar with school routines and families are given the chance to meet and offer support to other families with young children. Parents are also given the opportunity to learn about community resources, and to have any of their concerns addressed.

Our programs are free to attend and no pre-registration is required.
