The Student of the Month for May is Celine Veloria, a Grade 11 student at Leamington District Secondary School. Celine came to LDSS in September from the Philippines and has made quite an impact on the school community in her short time here.
Given her interest in multiculturalism, Celine conducted a research project at the school to study ways to better engage newcomers to Canada and she presented it to the Ministry of Education. To help those whose first language is not English, Celine arranged for signage in all the languages spoken by students at LDSS to be posted on washrooms, classrooms, gyms and other areas. Celine also helped plan the school's Multicultural Day which was a huge success. She's an important asset to the school and her classmates are proud to say she's a Leamington Lion.
Congratulations Celine on being selected by Student Senate as the Student of the Month for May.
