Just Research
The Greater Essex County District School Board believes that students need the skills and knowledge to be productive citizens in the information-based society of the 21st century. This means that they must be able to:
• access information effectively and efficiently;
• think critically;
• make responsible decisions;
• apply information accurately;
• create informative media products;
• evaluate the value of information;
• synthesize information from a variety of sources;
• make decisions;
• communicate effectively and creatively; and
• use information appropriately and respectfully*
Research or inquiry-based projects develop the skills and knowledge listed above. This website will support students as they work on projects by ‘chunking’ the project into 4 stages. The 4-stage research process is a model that students apply beginning in grade 1 and continue applying through secondary school and beyond. At each stage, there are tools and resources to help them develop the skills and knowledge of the information-based society of the 21st century.
