All applications to Enriched Courses (Out of District Students Only) are due no later than December 22nd , 2022 at 3:00 p.m to [email protected].
Please be aware of the parameters of applying to Enriched Courses when responding to parent/student requests and inquiries.
1. Our boundaries are closed to everyone out of district EXCEPT:
- Students who are IPRC’d Gifted may elect to come here, having filled in an Out of District application noting GIFTED student; and, or
- Students who are NOT Gifted, but with supporting data (C.A.T. scores, EQAO, plus report card evidence) and after consulting with the grade 8 teacher, and the Elementary Report from the sending Principal for the student. Parents/Guardians must be supportive of the transfer. This should all be attached to the Enriched Application.
2. Students must enrol in at least TWO of the four enrichment courses offered in grade 9 (i.e. English, Math, French or Science). Transportation to and from Massey is the responsibility of the student.
3. Such students, in order to remain at Massey, must continue to be enrolled and successful in at least TWO Enriched courses OR they will be required to return to their neighbourhood high school. The status of enriched students will be reviewed each year in the spring before courses are selected for the next academic year. However, we reserve the right to review placement in the program as needed if students are experiencing difficulties.
4. It should be noted that attendance of such out of district students does not permit their siblings to attend, unless they qualify in their own right.
5. Subject to the above, admission of such students is still at the discretion of the receiving Principal, based on the capacity of existing courses.
6. Reminder – Acceptance into Massey Secondary School Enriched Courses by a student not IPRC’d as Gifted, depends a great deal on how well the attached application is completed and supported with documentation. Any information related to academic achievement and social awareness is relevant.
