Out of District for Current Secondary Students Application Process Sheet
The Greater Essex County District School Board has announced the Out of District Transfer Procedures for current secondary school students who wish to attend a public secondary school outside their designated residential attendance area for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year.
Application Period: Monday, January 19 to Friday, January 30, 2026
Steps to Apply:
1. Complete the Online Registration Form: https://register.publicboard.ca
2. Contact the Requested School:
a) Share with the school that on on-line registration has been completed and it was sent to (name the secondary school).
b) Schedule an appointment with the Out of District school’s administration (519) 252-6514 (ext. 31400).
3. Obtain a Transfer Package:
Request and pick up a Transfer package from the main office of your child’s current secondary school.
a) A parent/guardian signature is required for students under the age of 18.
Important Notes:
- Transfers are subject to enrolment capacity at the requested school.
- This procedure does not apply to students entering:
- My Achievement Pathway for Success (MAPS)
- Skills to Enhance Personal Success (STEPS)
- English Language Learners (ELL) programs
- Transportation is not provided for out-of-district students.
- Acceptance of a transfer request is a commitment to attend the requested school for the full 2026–2027 school year.
- For questions, please contact the principal of your child’s current secondary school.
