TVA Tennis Title

TVA Tennis players Seija Huhtala and Camilla Marangelli.pngTecumseh Vista's Girls Doubles team of Seija Huhtala (grade 10) and Camilla Marangelli (grade 12) (pictured, right) earned a gold medal  at the 2017 OFSSAA Tennis tournament in Toronto. They won the final match 8 games to 2 with aggressive serves and point-ending net play.  "The title capped a perfect 18-0 season for the 16-year-old Huhtala and 17-year-old Marangelli, who did not lose a match in WECSSAA, SWOSSAA, or OFSAA play.  The two, who were teamed a year ago at WECSSAA and won a silver medal, beat the second-seeded team and fourth-seeded team at OFSAA, which had a field of 34 teams, and claimed the title with an 8-2 win over a team from Toronto in the final" (Windsor Star, June6).
Additionally, Vista athletes Jivan Chandan (grade 11) and Zane Hengsperger (grade 12) (pictured, below) competed in the all-Ontario tournament in Mixed Doubles and finished 13th in the province. 
The Tecumseh Vista Tennis program has grown since the school's opening 6 years ago under Head Coach Derek Tomkins' leadership. The team won the overall WECSSAA and SWOSSAA team championships titles this past fall.
