Literacy & Basic Skills

The Adult Literacy and Basic Skills (LBS) program helps learners in their transitions to work, further education toward post secondary training​​​​ or independence. This program is offered to adults 19 years of age and older who are Refugee Claimants, Convention Refugees, Government Sponsored Refugees, Landed Immigrants, or are Canadian Citizens.

This program is offered to ad​ults who have difficulty reading, writing, spelling and/or doing basic math, or preparing for the General Educational Development.

Employment skills are emphasized for first time job seekers or those returning to the workforce.
An assessment is given to assist each learner in identifying strengths and transferable skills.
Each learner is assisted in understanding and developing goals.

An individualized training plan is developed with each student with the teacher as facilitator.

Learners have access to computers and the internet.

  Class Times

Classes are offered on a full or part time schedule. The student timetable is based on site location, course/level availability and scheduling.

  • Mornings - 9:00 am to 11:30 am (5 days per week)(Windsor Only)
  • Afternoons - 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm (5 days per week)
  • Nights - 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm (2 nights per week)
  • Monday & Wednesday OR Tuesday & Thursday
