Students at Vincent Massey
Secondary School once again showed themselves to be dedicated towards helping
others… while having a great time in the process! Participants of the All Night Dance
fundraiser danced up a storm on Friday November 15th, 2013, held
from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am.
Participants worked to receive
pledges in order to be eligible to attend the All Night Dance, whose proceeds
go towards funding the Annual Children’s Christmas Party, scheduled this year
on December 14th, 2013*.
The mood was exuberant and
carefree as mid-semester worries and stresses were put aside in the name of
helping others. Students had a range of
activities to choose from, such as dancing to the beats of Massey’s own DJ
extraordinaire Frank Varga, playing karaoke in the cafeteria, gaming,
basketball, lounging, snacking, viewing a movie… the list carried on into the
wee hours of the morning!
In working hard towards a
common goal of helping others, both staff and students learned a valuable
lesson: when we choose to give, we also reap immeasurable inner rewards
ourselves. Included in the All Night
Dance Fundraiser: a night of seemingly endless hours of fun! A special thank you is extended Ms.
Dissanayake and Mr. McKenzie for volunteering countless hours of preparation
and supervision, along with students and supervising staff who made this great
*Note: The Annual Children’s Christmas Party is open to any
elementary students who are unable to afford the luxury of Christmas in our
community. During this event, children
can participate in fun games and activities, eat a traditional Christmas-style
lunch (turkey with stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc.), and receive a very merry
visit from Santa and his crew, who will be delivering presents to each and
