Students and
staff were ecstatic at the opportunity to show the community just what it means
to be a Mustang, during Vincent Massey’s Annual Open House, held on Wednesday
January 15th, 2014, from 6:00-8:30 p.m.
Over seventy staff members and
countless students prepared for a night of education and fun, as they welcomed
over 600 visitors wanting to see what Massey is all about. They were not disappointed, as the jam
packed evening began with an orientation outlining what makes Massey so special---
academic excellence, scholarships, dedicated teachers, sports, and numerous
extracurricular clubs.
Attendees were then quickly
organized into groups and led on a guided tour throughout the school, where
they were able to witness firsthand the well-balanced education being offered
throughout Massey’s many departments.
Whether it was a slime making lab in science,
robotics stations on display, the stunning display of talent in the visual arts
department, or presentations outlining the achievement within the realm of
academics such as English and Mathematics, a common element was experienced
throughout the entire school. The
enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment of staff--- along with the level of
passion, engagement, and involvement displayed by Massey students---- showed
guests the heart of what Mustang pride is all about!
Being a student at Vincent Massey
Secondary School has many different facets--- there is not just one reason as
to why Massey provides such excellence in achievement and success. From our renowned mathematics department,
ranked #1 in the country by the University of Waterloo based on math contests,
to our SWOSSA and WECCSSA championships in football, volleyball, and basketball,
the key to success of Massey students comes from a well-balanced palette of
fostered interests and talents. Most of
all, the heart and enthusiasm with which all endeavours are tackled at Massey
provide a solid foundation for success, happiness, and confidence, which will
continue on into the formation of accomplished and contented adult lives.
Thank you to all students and staff,
whose hard work and enthusiasm once again revealed what a special community we
are blessed to have at Massey. A special
thank you is also extended to our future Mustangs and their families, whose attendance
and participation helped to make another night of outstanding Mustang memories! We look forward to seeing you in September!
