Students from Vincent
Massey Secondary School’s Debate Team once again showed themselves to be fierce
contenders at the Odette Debate Competition, held on Friday Nov.15th,
2013.
Massey students proved to be a
considerable force among the competition, comprising twenty out of the eighty
teams present. They also proved
themselves to be worthy contenders, with Anshika Jain and Jelena Djukic placing
4th, Chris Gregorian and Raymond Wong 3rd, and the team
of Avneet Dhami and Lilly Gates finishing 2nd overall!
On top of strong team finishes,
both individual awards also went to Massey students, with Chris Gregorian
winning for Best Speaker, and Anshika Jain receiving Best Rebutter.
Congratulations once again to the Vincent Massey Debate Team, not only
for making Massey proud, but also for performing to the best of their ability
while under pressure! Thank you also to
Team Coaches Mr. McKenzie and Mr. Ing--- through the team’s success, your
expertise and dedication is evident!
The skill of negotiation and debate is one which always proves useful
when transferred into everyday situations.
The ability gained through the experiences on the Massey Debate team
will surely prove to be a useful asset to our students while continuing on
later in life.
